Slump Vessels

  • Peacock Garden
  • Tullynagardy Road

The inner and outer surfaces, and sometimes also what happens between the surfaces, must be considered in designing slump vessels.

I use many different techniques and processes in developing the images. “Painting” with glass powders, silk screen images used with powdered glass, juxtaposing reactive glasses, and combining pre-fired elements are just some of the methods and materials useful for creating the desired effect.

Many firings are often required for developing each surface and in fusing the surfaces together.

Once the imagery is set, the flat disc is slumped in  the kiln, into a mold, or a series of molds, and may require more than one firing.

The process is time consuming, very focused, and extremely satisfying.
